Interview of Foreign Tourist

I went to the most popular place that the tourist will visit when they went to Kuching and the place is waterfront. As we know, we can saw a lot of foreign tourist like to spend their time there while enjoying the nice and beautiful sight of the building and the Sarawak River Banks. So, waterfront is one of a place that becomes attraction to the tourist.
Nevertheless, I managed to interview a sibling of international tourist after my first attempt. I got lucky because I bumped into them at a Waterfront located in Kuching, Sarawak. It was a great opportunity to start interview with them.

I managed to conduct a simple non-formal interview with a siblings from America, but they lives in Seoul Korea. Mr  Mike and Miss Judy. I was told by Miss Judy that they came to Kuching for leisure time. Mr Mike said that they love Malaysian foods. They have tasty dessert they called ABC and cendol. The interview continued as Miss Judy said they love the night market too and they can find many choices of street food ,souvenirs, local fruits easily at the night market. She said they love local fruits called durian, it smell stink but taste delicious. Other than that they love the local Kuching Cake , Kek Lapis the colourful layered  cake. It taste awesome and they said they bought some of it, bring it home to Seoul Korea.

Next, this siblings took a flight to Malaysia by using Malaysian Airlines transport, it was recommended their friend actually. Their friend told about MAS good hospitality, service, the delicious foods , comfortable seat ,entertainment and all that positive things. They quite agree with their friend MAS is definitely a good choice and they enjoy their service ,their cabin crews is helpful, nice and friendly, they serve Malaysian food which is the both favourite. They plan to stay here for five days . They said , they  have been to Malaysia before. There was two place they have visits which is Langkawi and Malacca . Mr Mike said , this is first time visiting East part of Malaysia and he already in love with Kuching.

In addition, these siblings chose to spend their night at Harbour Hotel because it only takes 20 minutes to drive from the airport and 5- minute walk from the Chinese History Museum. Besides, the hotel is located close to the Kuching Waterfront and other tourist spot. They said the hotel’s service is good by far. They said before this , they have been to Langkawi and Malacca and now Kuching. MR Mike told ,he enjoyed these three city because they have their own unique attraction but they do like the most to visit in Malacca because there a lot of historical places. They said ,they have done some activities like watching birds, and wildlife in their natural habitat, scuba diving and snorkeling. They look forward to do some more activities like jungle trekking, cave exploration in here.

The sibling was finding out about Kuching from their friend. At that moment, their friends just came back from Kuching. Their friend showed them some of his pictures while he was in Kuching. After surfing the internet to get more information about Kuching, Mr. Mike and Miss Judy decided to go to Kuching for the next trip.

Overall, this siblings cheerfully said that they would love to re-visit Malaysia again in the future and bring their parents together to experience whole new things here .They said Malaysia is like their second home. Besides,   Mr. Mike and Miss Judy will miss the food ,love their foods so definitely they will come back to taste the delicious food and they said the local people is so nice, friendly , it makes them feel peace and safe being here.

Cencaluk

Next , I will tell you all about traditional food which is “Cencaluk”. I know some of you likes to eat cencaluk but some of you don’t like it. Cencaluk also one of the tourism product in Malaysia.
Cencaluk is a traditional Southeast Asian food made of fermented tiny shripms.  As we all know, Malacca is not only famous for its historical places but also for traditional food which is cencaluk.

According to old beliefs, that have become the words of pleasantries , the supposedly if one wedding day it rained all day it is said that the bride likes to eat cencaluk. But its all just a long story. In mallaca, the shrimp is called udang geragau . You can get this cencaluk in particular season in pantai klebang, Limbongan, Tanjung Kling and several coastal areas.

The process of making cencaluk is you just need three ingredients which is 1kg fresh shrimps, three tablespoon and 1 tablespoon salt. The method on how to make this cencaluk . You just need mix all ingredients. After that, keep in a clean and covered jar and leave it for 4 days in room temperature. The cencaluk is ready once it changes colour.

Usually we eat cencaluk mix with lime juice chili and eat it with cucumber. If you still find the smell of cencaluk overpowering there is a way to reduce the smell that is by cooking with other food such as fried cencaluk, cencaluk chicken and cencaluk omelete. Benefits of cencaluk is contains high protein. You can buy this cencaluk at grocery stores and markets throught Malaysia, Singapore and other Southeast Asian. A good cencaluk should have a light pinkish colour, is not overly salty and has a mild sour taste.

So, for my conclusion, We should have to preserve our traditional food that is the only way it will be remember . Other than that, our new generations is our hope , because this generations will help us to keep our traditional food and bring it into international so that our traditional food will be well known.

BUNGA TELUR

Today, I will tell you guys about “Tourism product” for handicraft which is Bunga Telur.
Based on what I already find, bunga telur is literally translated as “Flower egg”. The giving of bunga telur was actually originally a throwback to the Hindu culture which influenced the cultures in Southeast Asia.
Surprisingly at indian weddings, the originator of the practice, it is not eggs that are given out anymore. Those guest at an Indian wedding will receive sweets reflecting and reaffirming the sweetness of the occasion.
Bunga telur is a wedding token that is given out to guest who do the renjis-renjis on the wedding couple.
By giving away eggs , it was hoped that the newly wed couple will also blessed with fertility and thus have their own children in the future. The bunga telur is a plastic flower with a hard boiled egg attached to it in a net. It could take up to 4 hours to boil the batches for the perfect bunga telur. Bunga telur is not only gift of a malay wedding . It is also distributed to celebrate the birth of a new baby, circumcision and engagement. But nowadays, some of the wedding ceremony don’t have a bunga telur on their wedding because when they prepare a large quantity of egg , some of egg shells broke and more eggs had to be boiled to compensate for the broken ones.

For the conclusion, As the new generations we should continue to preserved this bunga telur in wedding especially malay wedding so that our culture giving of bunga telur  in wedding will be continue and not faded through time.
